New FHIR® Generator Node for Healthcare Integration

We are introducing the new FHIR Generator node for Dispatcher Phoenix to help healthcare organizations connect document workflows with modern FHIR compliant systems. Many healthcare platforms are moving from older data formats like HL7® to the newer FHIR standard, which is designed for web-based environments and is easier for systems to exchange and process data. The FHIR Generator node allows users to prepare documents and data in the format that FHIR systems expect without requiring custom coding or deep technical expertise.

Administrators can upload a custom schema or select from predefined FHIR resource templates such as Patient or Document Reference. Metadata captured earlier in the workflow, whether through OCR, barcode recognition, or index forms, can be mapped directly into the FHIR schema using a drag and drop interface. The node also supports base64 encoding, embedding scanned documents into the JSON payload to meet healthcare data exchange requirements.

Once configured, the node outputs a fully structured, FHIR compliant JSON file that includes both the mapped metadata and the encoded document. This gives healthcare organizations a simple, reliable way to prepare information for systems that require FHIR based input.

Key Benefits

  • Simplified Healthcare Integration – Create and send structured FHIR data directly from Dispatcher Phoenix without coding or complex setup.
  • Customizable or Prebuilt Schemas – Choose from common healthcare templates or upload your own schema for specialized use cases.
  • Metadata Mapping – Map values from OCR, barcode, or forms into FHIR fields with a simple drag-and-drop interface.
  • Base64 Encoding – Automatically embed scanned files into the JSON payload to meet FHIR formatting requirements.
  • Built-In Validation – Use the built-in Test JSON function to verify FHIR structure and identify syntax errors before sending data downstream.

Use Cases

  • Healthcare Providers – Automatically prepare clinical documents and deliver them to EHR systems using standard FHIR resources.
  • Labs and Diagnostics – Capture scanned reports and encode them directly into FHIR payloads for integration with healthcare information exchanges.
  • Insurance and Claims – Convert incoming paper forms into FHIR-compliant data for downstream claims processing systems.
