Take Control of Job Naming in Dispatcher Stratus with Customizable Templates

Dispatcher Stratus has introduced a powerful new feature—Job Name Templates—designed to make job identification and organization easier than ever. In Stratus, a Job is a task generated by a workflow, typically triggered by a submitted form or document, and assigned to a user or queue for review, approval, or action. Previously, jobs were given system-generated names but with Job Name Templates, organizations can now create custom naming structures using metadata and meaningful naming conventions.

This is especially helpful in environments with high job volume, such as healthcare, legal, or enterprise operations, where teams need to distinguish between jobs at a glance. It reduces confusion, streamlines task tracking, and improves collaboration by ensuring each job is clearly labeled with relevant context.

Job Name Template Page: Managing Job Names

The new Job Name Templates page allows users to manage all job naming templates. This page is organized by template groups and includes the following options:

  • Create New Templates
  • Edit Existing Templates
  • Delete Templates
  • Create Template Groups

Templates can be reused across multiple workflows, and the option to clone existing templates makes creating new ones faster and more efficient.

Creating and Managing Job Name Templates

With the Job Name Template Editor, users can easily create customized job names by dragging and dropping components from a palette. The editor allows for simple reordering of components and provides real-time feedback with the Resulting Job Name panel, which shows what the job name will look like based on the current template configuration.

A core element of the new feature is the metadata component, which must be configured within the workflow. When creating a template, any metadata components are highlighted to indicate this requirement. Additionally, users can add components for things like file names and extensions to further customize job names.

How Job Naming Works in Workflows

Once a template is created and saved, it can be assigned to workflows via collection nodes. When a collection node triggers a job, it will use the selected job naming template to assign a friendly, consistent name to the job. The Job Naming field within the collection node allows users to select a template from a dropdown menu.

Key Benefits Include:

  • Enhanced workflow organization through customizable job names.
  • Easy integration of metadata into job naming conventions.
  • Improved visibility and tracking for large organizations managing multiple jobs.

Whether automating document processing or managing complex workflows, Job Name Templates in Dispatcher Stratus will help streamline job creation, naming, and tracking.
