Too Much Technology? An Intuitive Experience is Key

As technologies expand, we are presented with more capabilities, more options, more of everything. What happens when having it all is overwhelming? A customized experience can help bring users and technology closer together and meet everyone's needs.

Opportunity

A business wanted to purchase a number of MFPs to be used by their customers for printing copies of documents. These were brand new machines with all of the latest technology, options, and speed you could ask for.

The problem that arose was that the users who would be operating the MFPs did not necessarily have experience with the technology and were not at all what you would call "tech savvy." Having a new technology with all of the bells and whistles presented to them was overwhelming. Operation was seen as “too hard”, which did not help the business. How can we put these customers at ease with the product and encourage usage?

Solution

To do this, we had to look at the process from the users' perspective. If having every option is overwhelming, let's simplify. If the machine and technology are intimidating, let's guide the user and help them.

Konica Minolta MarketPlace and custom MFP UIs provide the perfect solution for tailoring the MFP experience for customers. With its easy, drag-and-drop tools and intuitive interface, anyone can create MFP screens to meet the needs of their users.

For this business, we were able to remove anything that wasn't necessary from each MFP screen. Users were limited to making copies and setting a small number of the most common options, like number of copies, use of color, and stapling. For users that need guidance, we created a friendly, wizard-style succession of screens to walk them through their choices. For users familiar with MFPs, we gave them these options all in one convenient screen.

We used Konica Minolta MarketPlace and MFP UIs to create custom MFP user interfaces to give the customer a feeling of ease and control. This, in turn, allowed the business to deploy their Konica Minolta MFPs with confidence that their customers would choose them for their ease of use.

Conclusion

Using Konica Minolta MarketPlace to create tailor-made MFP screens that fit the needs of both beginner and experienced copier users, did more than make a sale. It helped build a relationship between the users, the business, and Konica Minolta.
