Expanded Document Parsing Capabilities in Dispatcher Stratus

To empower organizations to further streamline workflows, a variety of new document parsing nodes have been added to Dispatcher Stratus. Parsing is a process performed on text-based files controlled by user-defined rules. These nodes enable a process within a workflow that performs a Search, Distribute, Insert, or Replace operation, based on the conditions defined in the node without any OCR requirements. The new parsing nodes include:

  • Parse - Used to create a Search rule only, to be followed by another process.
  • Parse & Insert - Used to insert a text string after finding the object of a Search.
  • Parse & Replace - For replacing text found by a Search rule.
  • Parse & Distribute - Can be used to search for a keyword or text string within a file, not just in the file name, type or size, but to search the content of the file.
  • Email Parser - Perform file extraction and/or routing of emails based on specified conditions.

Use Cases

  • Production Print:
Parse and Replace or Parse and Insert can be used to facilitate a change to a print-ready file (PJL, PCL, or Postscript). For example, you can update a PJL header when you're not using a standard printer driver to set print options. The PJL header on a PDF contains information for the number of copies that will be printed. The Parse and Replace node can be used to change the number of copies or the Parse and Insert node can be used to add PJL headers.
  • Enterprise Document Processing:
The Parser node can be used to reconcile documents that complete processing at different times. The Parser checks the filename variable, and another processing node waits for the supporting document to complete to be combined prior to being processed further.
  • Intelligent Routing:
A text file being processed through a workflow contains unique identifiers including customer information. Using Parse and Distribute, we can use pattern matching search to find a value inside a text file. If the value is found, the file will travel along the Yes (Y) route, if the value is not found it will travel the No (N) route.

To recap, the Parsing nodes allow non-OCR document processing by finding unique values in a file or workflow and completing automated actions based on those values.
